Over 1,068 plant species, 322 bird species, and 75 animal species call Nyungwe Forest National Park home. It is famous for keeping tabs on habituated chimpanzees, which are endangered and could become extinct soon. Most visitors to the Nyungwe forests come to see the chimpanzees that the park rangers have trained to tolerate humans.
Primate tracking isn’t the only thing to do when you visit Nyungwe; there are plenty of other things to do as well. Among the breathtaking things to do in Nyungwe is to traverse a 91-meter-long suspension bridge that hangs 50 meters above the verdant rain forest below. With reasonable footing, you may reach the canopy walk from the Uwinka Visitors Center in about 90 minutes. From the forest, one can marvel at the breathtaking view of the faraway mountains and trees. Nature hikes, bird watching, and hiking are all part of the program.
