At its point of entry into the park from the west rift valley escarpment, the Nile River creates a waterfall that separates the park’s northern and southern halves. The water rushes into a 40-meter-deep boiling pot after being squeezed through a 6-meter-wide crack in the rocks. An adventure you won’t soon forget is a boat ride upstream to the falls. Many different kinds of animals can be observed by guests. Day 19: Take a game drive in the evening in Kidepo National Park

Kidepo National Park, the biggest park in Uganda, will be your destination today. Seasonal springs and rivers, often connected by bridges, can be seen. In the evening, you can rest at the lodge or go for a mini-game drive. You can also start to observe Karamajong people arriving in Kidepo.
Approximately 700 kilometers from Kampala, in the rough and semiarid valleys that border Sudan and Kenya, is where you will find Kidepo Valley National Park. It was gazetted as a national park in 1962 and is home to 475 different bird species, 77 different animal species, and an abundance of large game. While few venture north across the rugged frontier region of Karamoja to reach Kidepo National Park in Uganda, those that do would agree that it is the most breathtaking and remote national park in the country. Kidepo is also one of the best wildernesses in Africa. A savannah environment stretches from Apoka, in the center of the park, well beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons framed by faraway mountain ranges. Wetlands and remnant lakes in the vast Narus Valley near Apoka provide the only permanent water in the park during the dry season. The Narus Valley is the best place to see wildlife in the park because of its seasonal oasis and open savannah landscape.

Day 20: Drives through Kidepo National Park for the entire day

You will go on game drives today in the Narus and Kidepo valleys, which are home to several kinds of animals. The Narus Valley is a grassy, undulating plain encircled by faraway mountains. The park’s animals concentrate in this valley for most of the year because of its perennial water supply. As a result, there is no shortage of game tracks in the region; four loop circuits traverse the valley surrounding Apoka. The valley is home to a wide variety of animals, including giraffes, buffalo, oribis, reedbucks, and Jackson’s hartebeest. Leopards and cheetahs are less frequent sights. Game viewing is at its best during the dry season at the Narus dam and the water hole next to the Tourism Centre. At the end of the Katurum loop in the south lies Katurum kopje, which was once a lodge but is now a popular tourist destination thanks to its breathtaking views of the Morungule Mountains to the north and the valley below. Although there isn’t much wildlife in Kidepo Valley during the dry season due to a lack of surface water, the dry Kidepo River is nevertheless worth the drive for a stroll along its 50-meter-wide bed of white sand between banks covered with borassus palms.
