What To Expect

1

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival, our representative will meet you at your Kigali hotel or other designated meeting point on the first day of your seven-day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari. After a briefing about the safari, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Driving via the Cyanka border in Kisoro or the Katuna border in Kabale takes around three to four hours. Along the route, you’ll be able to take in breathtaking views of terraced farmlands, rural areas, and rolling hills. You will be driven to the lodge for your evening meal and overnight stay after you reach the park.

2

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

You will have an early morning breakfast. After that, your driver guide will collect you from the lodge and take you to the park headquarters for a briefing regarding the regulations, expectations, and rules of gorilla trekking. Bring a packed lunch with you. Your park guide will be an expert on gorillas and the jungle pathways; after the briefing, you’ll be paired with a gorilla family to hike with. Because gorillas are constantly on the move in quest of food, trekking with them in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can take anywhere from thirty minutes to seven hours. While hiking, you can see a wide variety of creatures, including chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and many types of birds. Upon finding the gorillas, you will have the opportunity to spend one hour in their natural habitat. During this time, you can observe their daily activities such as feeding, nursing, and playing. You can also take excellent photos and record these memorable moments to share with loved ones back home. Gather with your driver guide to be transferred to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight after your one-hour encounter with the gentle giants. On your way back to the park headquarters, you will be presented with a certificate for participating in the gorilla trekking.

3

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the accommodation and be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park by your driver guide. You may get a glimpse of the tree climbing lions resting on the fig tree branches as you make your way through the Ishasha sector in the southern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After your game drive in the Ishasha sector, you will have lunch and then head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can relax, have supper, and spend the night at the lodge.

4

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After breakfast, you will meet your driver guide for a morning game drive or lion tracking excursion in the Kasenyi plains. You may expect to see a wide range of animals and birds on your game drive, including huge herds of elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs, and predators like lions and leopards. Your lunch break will be at the lodge after the game drive.

5

Day 5: A game drive in the morning followed by a transfer to the national park of Kibale Forest

This day will begin with breakfast at the resort. Your driving guide will then pick you up for another game drive in the park, giving you another chance to see animals that you might have missed on the previous game drive. Your safari will end after lunch at the lodge, and then you will have the opportunity to check out before beginning your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. As you make your way to the resort, you can look forward to dinner and an overnight stay while taking in breathtaking views of the scenery, crater lakes, and tea plantations.

6

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and exploring the Bigodi swamp

Enjoy your breakfast and then you will be picked up by our guide who will drive you to the Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, you will be paired with a chimpanzee family and accompanied by a park guide who is familiar with the forest’s routes for your trip. Trekking with chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park might take anywhere from thirty minutes to four hours, given that the apes are constantly on the move in quest of food. While trekking, you might see various plants, birds, and primates, including grey-cheeked mangabeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, and more. Once the chimpanzees have been located, you will get the opportunity to spend an hour in their natural habitat. During this time, you will be able to observe their feeding, nursing, fighting, hunting, and juvenile behaviors up in the trees. You will also be able to take photos and record the moments. Meet your driving guide at the park headquarters after your up-close encounter with the chimpanzees, and then make your way back to the lodge for lunch.
The Bigodi Swamp is a fascinating place to explore on foot after lunch, where you may see a wide variety of wildlife, including sitatungas and a plethora of plant and tree species. Returning to the lodge for supper and the night follows the swamp trip.

Day 7: Return to Kigali & Departure

You will have a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali on the last day of your 7-day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari from Kigali Rwanda. Your driver/guide will see you through to Kigali, stopping for lunch en route. Upon arrival, you can be dropped off at the airport for your flight out of Kigali or wherever you would want.
